We strive to love Our Local Church in the following ways...
To get connected with FMCW ministries, email info@fmcw.org.
- Love Shows Up Care Ministry – The Love Shows Up Care Ministry can be summed up in this one question: “How can I help?” There are many ways we can be the answer to this question — making hospital and care home visits, providing transportation, making phone calls to let someone know they are remembered, helping young mothers with their little ones, or holding the hand of someone who is hurting or grieving.
- Altar Guild – The Altar Guild serves behind the scenes to prepare and beautify our worship space throughout the year. Team members help set up and serve Communion, bake bread, greet worshippers, and assist with offerings on a rotating schedule. They also help decorate the Sanctuary for Advent and prepare for Holy Week services. Please prayerfully consider joining this dedicated team as we serve together to support the worship life of our church.
- Ushers, Greeters, and Communion Assistants – When you enter the church each Sunday, you are greeted with a beautiful smile and welcomed with love. It has been said repeatedly that what drew new members to choose this as their church home was the welcoming atmosphere. If you love meeting new people and sharing the wonderful things about our church, consider being a greeter before services. You would also collect offerings during the service. Communion Assistants assist in serving communion on the first Monday of each month and in special worship services. Serving as a communion assistant is an opportunity to be a part of the most wonderful sacrament; you can be the face of Christ to your brothers and sisters in Christ. You would be a volunteer for only the service that you already attend. If being on the front line is not for you, you can still play a crucial part in this ministry by preparing the sacraments before the services.
- Hospitality Team – The Hospitality Team at First Methodist Church welcomes everyone with warmth and friendliness in the Family Life Center. Team members greet guests, help set up and serve coffee, pick up donuts for fellowship time, and help set up for special events throughout the year. They create a welcoming atmosphere where members and visitors can feel at home. By serving with a cheerful heart, the team helps build community and connection within the church.
- Wednesday Night Meal – Our church has had a Wednesday night dinner fellowship for decades. It is an excellent time to share a meal before bible studies, children’s choir, and adult choir. The Butter Babes/Dudes are currently providing meals for approximately 130 in-person and 15-30 to-go meals delivered to homebound individuals. If you love to socialize, cook, wash dishes, or decorate, this is your place. You can volunteer to help set up the dining area, meet the Ben E. Keith truck and put away supplies, prepare and cook the meal, deliver meals to homebound individuals, and clean up after the meal. We would love to have you as a part of the team.
- Card Ministry – Join us for a time of creativity, fellowship, and caring hearts! The Sharing God’s Love Card Ministry meets once a month to make handmade cards for those in need of encouragement, comfort, or celebration. Whether you’re an experienced crafter or just enjoy sharing kindness, you’re welcome to join us. Together, we create beautiful cards that carry messages of hope, love, and God’s presence to members of our community who could use a reminder that they’re not alone. All supplies are provided—just bring your helping hands and a joyful spirit!

- Historian/Archives – In God we find our heritage and our inheritance. Our identities are shaped by a rich tapestry of culture, family, friends, and experiences, but let our gaze be always drawn back to God! Join us as we organize and curate the historical memories of FMCW.
- Prayer Ministry – FMCW is a praying congregation. There are many opportunities for you to engage in this ministry through specific ministry areas, Sunday School Classes, or Bible Studies. We welcome you and hope you will join us as we answer the call of Jesus to pray for the needs of others and for the coming of the kingdom! The FMCW prayer room is available to you for your personal use whenever the office is open, from Monday through Thursday. It is located downstairs near Akard Hall. There are signs to help guide you.
THE MISSION OF FIRST WEATHERFORD IS TO LOVE GOD,
AND TO LOVE AND SERVE OTHERS.
