HISTORY
Chartered in 1857, First Methodist Church Weatherford is a vibrant community of caring Christians who welcome everyone to our worship services and activities. We believe faith is meant to be lived out, and we actively encourage our members to serve our community and the world through meaningful ministry.
We support numerous local missions with both our time and resources, including direct aid ministries, the battered women’s shelter, the crisis response team, Meals on Wheels, emergency assistance for children, the local Wesley Foundation, scholarships at Weatherford College, and care for those experiencing homelessness.
Our beautiful sanctuary, marked as a historic landmark, reflects our rich heritage. Construction began in 1889 and was completed in 1893. The Education Building was completed in 1930, with a south addition completed in 1954 and a full renovation of the sanctuary. In 2000, we added our Family Life Center, thoughtfully designed to complement the historic sanctuary and create a welcoming, unified campus.
THE MISSION OF FIRST WEATHERFORD IS TO LOVE GOD,
AND TO LOVE AND SERVE OTHERS.
